We want you to join the SWP

The Socialist Workers Party is a revolutionary socialist organisation. We stand against all forms of exploitation, bigotry and oppression. We think that the problems in society stem from a system - capitalism - that prioritises profit above all else. We believe a socialist world where people come before profit is possible, and necessary.

You can read more about what we stand for here, and take a look at our theoretical resources here. In the SWP we aim to build a party of leaders. We are activists involved in campaigns including Stand Up to Racism, the fight against austerity and the movement demanding action on climate change. If you agree with what we stand for then please join us by filling in the form below.

We have a network of branches around the country who hold regular meetings, get involved in campaigns and organise resistance. You can check out your local branch here.

Joining the SWP

Unlike most organisations we are funded by our members alone. Unsurprisingly, we have no rich backers! Paying a regular membership subscription will enable us to continue our proud tradition of building a socialist organisation within the movement.

When you join us, we encourage you to pay your monthly subscription by direct debit which gives us regular payments to organise. If you can pay by direct debit please fill in the form at the bottom of this page.

If you are unable to pay by direct debit please fill in our alternate form or download a membership form (PDF file).

We recommend that people pay the following amounts.

Unemployed/FE/School — £2 per month

University students — £5 per month

Employed — £10-£30 per month depending on income and circumstances.

Your account will be debited by the amount indicated every month on the date specified. Direct debit is only available to British residents with British bank accounts.

All the normal direct debit safeguards and guarantees apply. No changes in the amount, date or frequency to be debited can be made without notifying you at least ten working days in advance of your account being debited. In the event of any error you are entitles to an immediate refund from your bank or building society. You have the right to cancel a direct debit instruction at any time simply by writing to your bank or building society, with a copy to us.

In order to set-up a direct debit on line you must be the account holder of a personal bank or building society account. If you are not the only required signatory on your account, or you would rather send us a paper version of this form download the join the SWP form here (PDF file).
